Big Rocks:  I can determine the theoretical and experimental probability for given situations.

Vocabulary

experimental probability. Is determines by carrying out a simulation or an experiment.

theoretical probability. Is the expected probability and can be found with a formula

Bell Ringer: Go over surface area and volume test

Homework:

4th Quarters IXL challenge: See how many IXL's you can get to a 70 before EOG's. The top student in each class will get a prize each week.  Good Luck.  This weeks IXLs :J11,J12,,K1,,K2,K3,,K4,K5,K6,K7,K8,

Last Week's J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J6, J7, J8, J9, J10, J11, J12.  If you complete these see me for next weeks list.  Student are required to complete at least 40 minutes each week of IXL.

Mean Absolute Deviation

Guided Notes

Step 1:  find the mean of your given data set

Step 2: subtract each number in the data set from the mean

**if the difference is negative, take the absolute value**

Step 3: create a new data set with your differences

Step 4: find the mean of the new data set

EXAMPLE:

{3, 7, 7, 4, 6, 9}

Step 1: 3+7+7+4+6+9 = 36 … 36/6 = 6

Step 2:

6 – 3 = 3

6 – 7 = -1…absolute value = 1

6 – 7 = -1…absolute value = 1

6 – 4 = 2

6 – 9 = -3…absolute value = 3

Step 3:

New Set = {3, 1, 1, 2, 3)

Step 4: 3+1+1+2+3 = 10 … 10/6 = 1.6666666 …round to nearest 100th = 1.67

Our Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) is 1.67
